Lib Dems Emma Bone and Jon Williams are outraged at Tory delays to Bradley Stoke health centre

Local Lib Dems have condemned a shock move by Tory Councillors to put the brakes on plans to provide Bradley Stoke with a health centre.

At a meeting of the Corporate Co-ordination Select Committee on Wednesday (28.11.07) Allan Higgs, Executive member for Corporate Affairs back tracked on his decision to release land at Bradley Stoke for a Health Centre saying that consultation with Council Departments had not been completed.

Outraged, Bradley Stoke Councillor, Jon Williams said:

"The Cabinet agreed a year ago that this consultation should take place, so why has it taken Tory Councillors so long to get a response from their own Council administration? This is a real blow to the people of Bradley Stoke who are being massively let down by Councillor Higgs' inaction."

Prospective Lib Dem MP for Filton and Bradley Stoke, Emma Bone added:

"The people of Bradley Stoke have made quite clear to me that they're desperate for better health care facilities. It's utterly ridiculous that Bradley Stoke, with a population of nearly 15,000, doesn't have its own health centre and a huge disappointment that Tory Councillors don't seem inclined to make a health centre for Bradley Stoke a reality
